He
kept thinking as he walked past the lady selling her last bit of groundnut for
the day. Another uneventful day has finally come to end; day that started with
a phone call from his boss early at 7 in the morning. It’s been the same since
the last two months, a repetition of the boring stuff; an irritating call that
demands a pen and paper ready followed by a ‘to-be-sent’ Whatsapp text
containing his day plan. This day ends with more discontentment; an
‘ever-dissatisfied’ boss and a helpless employee.
He
has constantly been interrogating himself whether this is the life he always
dreamed of. Then he remembers the famous quote by Barrie which says that the
life of every being is a diary that has one intended story which ends up with
some other. He smiled!! Maybe this is what people call ‘life’. He walked down
the subway. There was no one there apart from him. He was walking all alone. He
just wished that he finds a bus back home. He knew it was late but not ‘too
late’!!
They
say, ‘life is what you make out of it’. He thought that they were wrong. Life
is more about being a slave to situations and one cannot really help it. He
meets many, talks to a lot of them. Rarely finds anyone satisfied with their
job. But they still do. To play with the tide, one he has to be a surfer!
A
brand new black canvas that he put on a couple of days back never remained
black by the time he reached office. People are all in a rat race chasing
unattainable dreams. They are so badly intoxicated that they would stamp you,
walk over you to actually find themselves reach nowhere. They are all infected
by megalomania. These thoughts that so
frequently occurred to him left him disturbed and restless. He does not like
all these. No, he doesn’t want his life to be the same. He will ‘live’ his life
and celebrate it the way he always wanted to. It might not be grand, but will
surely not leave him an unhappy man. Others may judge him, call him the
‘grasshopper’ who rejoiced his present and sang to the tune of it, but he will
make the best of whatever is at his disposal and within his capabilities.

ReplyDeleteYeah he believe that the prince in him only deserves the glory and might without soiling his hands and without winning any battle. The boss offered the responsibility of selling groundnuts to him becoz he had developed trust. He remembered the famous words of Barrie but forgot the words which were less famous...Defining the situation clearly will lead you to stage 2 of the game and wishfull thinking for an fairy land will end up enhancing his procrastinatios.
